Gramatica for iPhone and iPad review

Gramatica for iPhone and iPad review

Gramatica is an Instagram client for the iPhone and iPad that lets you hide and filter unwanted photos. You can create lists of tags and people, or you can simply hide a photo that you come across in your stream. Gramatica also supports multiple accounts, pinch to zoom, and more.

Gramatica features a dark-themed social stream with all photos shared by your friends, but different from the official Instagram app, Gramatica reveals additional columns when you swipe left or right. Swiping to the right slides open a toolbar on the left with more tabs and options. Swiping to the left reveals your stream in thumbnail view so that you can quickly see 18 photos at a glance (on the iPhone 5).

With each photo on the stream, the username, avatar, and location associated with it appear just below. Tapping the avatar or user name will open the user's profile, and tapping the location slides open a little map in place of the photo. Similarly, tapping on the comment bubble or heart will slide in all the comments/likes with the ability to add your own. When adding a comment, tap a previous comment to tag that user.

One of the unique and main features of Gramatica is the ability to hide photos and filter specific people and tags. You can also create lists of people and tags to add to your left sidebar for quick access. When viewing a user's profile, you can choose to hide or block the user or add them to a list you created. If you come across a photo in your timeline that you'd rather never see again, holding your finger down on it will reveal options to hide photo or user.

The good

  • Filter and hide people, photos, or tags you don't want to see
  • Make lists of users or hashtags
  • Support for multiple accounts
  • Like, comment, view on a map, and filter all without leaving the gallery
  • Pinch to zoom
  • Unread comments indicator
  • Last viewed photo indicator
  • Ability to tab URLs in comments
  • Thumbnail view on iPhone
  • Universal for iPhone and iPad
  • Keep all of your filters, lists, unread comment and last viewed photo information synced between devices with iCloud

The bad

  • Takes three taps to like a photo and return to stream
  • Can't upload photos (not the fault of Gramatica; this is a limitation of Instagram API)
  • Using the word "filter" to describe something other than a photo filter in an Instagram app can be a bit confusing

The bottom line

I seriously love Gramatica. The interface is beautiful, I get to hide the occasional ugly photo, and best of all, it's available on the iPad!

The current free-agency market already has been called the worst ever by multiple NFL agents.? Though the warning signs were there, with plenty of teams having cap trouble and few having a major spending surplus, players and agents believed that the money would flow in the early days, like it always does.

But only a small handful of players got paid once the market opened.?? Sure, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco became the highest-paid player of all time, but that happened only because the Ravens opted not to choose between an exclusive franchise tender that would have cost them more than $19 million in 2013 cap room and a non-exclusive level that would have invited other teams to load up an offer sheet and happily give up a pair of first-round picks.? Beyond Flacco, no player has set a new high-water mark at his position.

As a result, many have gotten, and eventually will get, far less than they wanted.? Including receiver Greg Jennings.

According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jennings at one point during the 2012 season wanted $15 million per year.? And so he rejected $11 million per year from the Packers, ultimately getting only $9 million annually from the Vikings.

Along the way, Jennings rejected (per McGinn) a reduced offer of $8 million per year from the Packers, and a $6 million annual flier from the Patriots.

Few saw the crash of the free-agency market coming, and plenty of agents already are whispering about collusion.? It?s not suspected in the sense of broad spending restrictions, but with respect to quiet coordination among teams in an effort to set the market at certain positions.

The irony is that, for players and agents, coordination and collusion are permitted ? but they don?t seem to be doing much of it.? As a result, the teams have managed to land big-name players at bargain-basement costs, and the prices keep dropping at the NFL?s thrift shop.

Rihanna television special hitting airwaves in May

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Fans of Rihanna can get a sample of the singer's 2012 tour when a documentary featuring performances and behind-the-scenes footage will be shown on U.S. television on May 6.

"RIHANNA 777," a one-hour special, will air on Fox, the network said on Monday.

The program chronicles Rihanna's late 2012 world tour, which made seven stops in seven days as she promoted her seventh album, "Unapologetic." It also includes footage shot on a 777 jet used to transport the singer, her entourage and more than 250 journalists and fans.

The film "provides an inside look at the singer's ambitious and often turbulent tour, from the sound of popping champagne corks on the plane to the backstage chaos to the singer's special worldwide appearances," Fox said in a statement.

Stops during the tour included Mexico City, Toronto, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, London and New York.

Last week Rihanna canceled shows in Boston and Baltimore because she was suffering from flu and laryngitis. She resumed performing on Friday at a stop in Philadelphia.

In 2012 the Barbados-born Grammy Award-winning singer was rated by Time and Forbes magazines as among the world's and celebrity arena's most powerful people.
