Sprint Galaxy Nexus Receiving 4.2.1 Update Along With New Kernel

Oh, the curse of a carrier branded Nexus device. The Sprint Galaxy Nexus is now getting the update to 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, quite a bit later than its unlocked counterpart. Now there are two ways of looking at it. The more popular one is outrage, that Sprint delayed this update for two and a half months. It?s a Nexus device, it should get updates immediately! And this is a valid way of thinking. But let?s look on the bright side. Your Galaxy Nexus is on the newest version of Android, above any other phone other than the Nexus 4. You also got an update in 2.5 months, which is really fast for a carrier update.

To sweeten the deal, Samsung has also released a new kernel for the device. To grab the update (if you aren?t already in the spirit of the Nexus and on a custom ROM), go to Settings > About phone > Software updates to check if you have an OTA waiting for you.
